Shaktimaan SFX
2020
450 sets of drawings
carbon transfer on paper
each drawing: 11.7 x 8.3 inches

Shaktimaan SFX brings together reproductions of the various digital special effects used in the popular Indian TV show Shaktimaan. Broadcast between 1997 and 2005, Shaktimaan was the first show in India to present both a commercial superhero and an extensive display of then-advanced computer graphics. These now outdated special effects are reproduced as transfer-drawings made solely from the imprint of commercially available carbon paper (available in red, green, white, black, yellow, and blue).

Shaktimaan SFX is produced in episodic editions, where all the special effects appearing in a particular episode are catalogued as a set. The total work comprises of 450 such sets, one for each episode of the original series.
