Nihaal Faizal is an artist based in Bangalore, India. In 2018, he founded Reliable Copy, a publishing house for works, projects, and writing by artists. Between 2013-16, he organised G.159, a project space in Yelahanka New Town.

red curtains opening presents a collection of 24 low-resolution watermarked sample videos of computer-generated red theatre curtains opening. These sample videos were downloaded from the royalty-free stock image website shutterstock, where they are available for purchase.

As generic and easily replacable stand-ins, these digital curtains, indicating the beginning of something, become the endless subject of repetition and variation.
